Optimize your Vision

At Sam Schneider Optometrist our first-choice fitting modality is usually disposable soft contact lenses. Disposable soft lenses tend to be very thin and very comfortable providing a great solution for part time or full time wear.

Disposable soft contact lenses are available on a daily, weekly, fortnightly or monthly replacement basis.

Increasing the replacement frequency means that deposits on the contact lens surface are minimised thereby reducing risks of discomfort, allergies and infections.

Daily disposable lenses have the added benefit of reduced maintenance as they are thrown away after wear whereas careful contact lens (and case) hygiene is essential for any other soft contact lenses that are worn multiple times.

Typically larger in diameter

These lenses are typically larger in diameter compared to traditional contact lenses and rest on the sclera, vaulting over the cornea.

Scleral lenses create a fluid-filled space between the lens and the cornea, which provides several benefits. These lenses are often prescribed for individuals with irregular corneas, such as those with keratoconus or severe dry eye syndrome, as they can help improve vision and provide comfort by providing a smooth and regular optical surface.

Scleral lenses also help protect the cornea and keep it hydrated by acting as a reservoir for tears. They require proper fitting and regular care, so it’s important to consult with an eye professional such as ourseves for guidance and assistance when considering scleral lenses
